Chess tournament is over

The tournament was held in accordance with the action plan approved by the Main Police Department of Baku city. At the tournament which consisted of nine rounds and held according to the Swiss system, 36 police officers within 12 teams took part. According to this system, at the competitions the participants fought for both the individual championship and the team championship by the total number of points gained.

According to the final results, the first place in the individual competition with points 8.5 was taken by the senior assistant to the chief of the Main Police Department of Baku city for work with personnel, police colonel Ali Veliyev. Let`s note that A. Veliyev who was showing the same result for several years was considered to be the favorite of the tournament.   

Responsible on duty of 27th police station of Yasamal District Police Department, police captain Vusal Mammadov and operator of Yasamal DPD, police junior sergeant Iman Guliyev held the second place in the individual championship with 7 points each. Senior criminal investigator of the 13th police station of Sabunchu DPD, police major Kanan Gumbatov won the third place with points 6.5.

At the competitions managed by the FIDE judge Javanshir Baghirov, the team of the MPD of Baku city with points of 19.5 won the first place in team scoring. The second place was held by the team of Yasamal DPD with points of 18.5, and the third place was taken by the team of the Police Department in the subway with points 16.5. 

Participants who have won in individual and team scorings will be awarded with a cup and medals of the corresponding categories.
