Minister Vilayat Eyvazov received the Chief of the Iranian Anti-Narcotics Police

On June 20, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov received the delegation led by the Chief of the Iranian Anti-Narcotics Police of the Command of the Law Enforcement Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brigadier General Majid Karimi, who is on a visit to our country.

Welcoming the guests, Minister V.Eyvazov emphasized the existence of historical, cultural and religious ties between our peoples and noted the dynamic and productive development of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations and the strategic nature of this cooperation. Then, touching upon the relations between the ministries of Internal Affairs of the two countries, the minister said that there is a regulatory and legal framework regulating mutual activity, which allows closer cooperation and joint practical measures to combat crime. He stressed that such meetings create ample opportunities for uniting our efforts in the fight against transnational organized crime, including drug trafficking, which has become a human scourge, cooperation in the fight against dangerous types of transnational organized crime, especially illegal drug trafficking and migration, which has acquired a global character, has great potential, it is necessary to identify new directions, and the organization headed by him is also interested in expanding bilateral relations.

The minister briefed the guests about the current criminogenic situation in Azerbaijan and noted the work done in the field of strengthening democratic principles in our republic and improving the mechanism of legal regulation of public relations and he said that law enforcement agencies are carrying out complex measures in close cooperation against organized crime, international terrorism, extremism, separatism, illegal trafficking in weapons and drugs.

Chief of the Iranian Anti-Narcotics Police of the Command of the Law Enforcement Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brigadier General Majid Karimi thanked for the warm welcome and he noted that such visits, implementation of the provisions of the signed agreements are fully consistent with the interests of both friendly countries with the same religion, similar culture and historical roots, and contribute to the further development of relations in all spheres, including security, economic relations and other issues.
During the meeting, which was held in an atmosphere of sincerity and kindness, a number of other issues of interest to the parties were also discussed.
