The board meeting was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs

On April 19th, the Ministry of Internal Affairs held an online board meeting covering the results of activities on prevention and clearance of property crimes, felonies committed by ex-convicts, and petty stealing, as well as the use of anti-intrusion alarm devices.

Opening the meeting with an introductory speech, the Minister, Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov stressed the relevance of the issues raised through a perspective of citizens' satisfaction, the strong protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as the importance of improving and further strengthening the measures carried out in this regard, taking into account nowadays requirements.

Minister V. Eyvazov appreciated the results of field and on-duty activities in the first quarter of this year. He noted that 86 percent of 8622 registered crimes were solved during this period, and we can see an improvement in solving property crimes of hidden nature, including theft, robbery, mugging, extortion, and hijacking, compared to the same period of last year. The Minister noted the prosecution of 1,689 people in this regard, stressing that 1 ton 64 kg of narcotic drugs were seized from illegal trafficking. Besides, he mentioned the improved results of investigative work, including the detention of persons wanted for serious and especially serious crimes, and the neutralization of 220 criminal groups of 556 people in total.

Deputy Minister, Chief of the Main Organization and Inspection Department, Police Lieutenant General Fazil Guliyev, Chief of the Main Criminal Investigation Department, Police Major General Arzu Dashdamirov, Chief of the Main Guarding Department, Police Major General Nurullah Mammadkhanli, Chief of the Secretariat, Police Colonel Nahid Mammadzade and Deputy Chief of the Baku city Main Police Department, Police Colonel Vugar Alakbarov made reports on the agenda.

Speaking on the matters under discussion, the heads of territorial police bodies informed about the work conducted and the results achieved, as well as the measures to eliminate existing shortcomings.

Finalizing the board meeting, the Minister, Colonel-General V. Eyvazov noted that the duties and tasks set by the law were adequately fulfilled in the first quarter of this year, and positive results were achieved in combating crime and providing law and order. He gave instructions and recommendations to improve the efficiency of on-duty activities.

At the same time, recalling that the citizens' satisfaction is among the main tasks set by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, the Minister demanded a more sensitive approach to the crime prevention and solving, the compensation for material damage caused by illegal actions, as well as the consideration of citizens' appeals and their reception. The Minister gave a number of specific instructions stressing the need for the later technologies to be introduced in the on-duty activities and the expansion of electronification in the management, as well as the importance of providing facilities and apartments belonging to legal entities and individuals with anti-intrusion alarm systems, strengthening measures to combat drug trafficking, reliable protection of rights, freedoms, and legitimate interests of each person, and professional performance of tasks within the competence of the police officers in general.

The Minister, Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov voiced confidence that the personnel of the internal affairs bodies will proceed with adequate performance of their functions set by the law, doing their best to provide stability and tranquility in the country.
