Purposeful actions carried out by traffic police officers in order to provide traffic safety on the roads of the capital.

Thanks to the purposeful actions and propaganda carried out by traffic police officers in order to provide traffic safety on the roads of the capital in comparison with last year a decrease has been recorded in overall classification of road traffic accidents occurring in Baku.

Thus, 768 traffic accidents occurred in Baku from the beginning of this year till December 19. As the result of the accidents 217 people died, and 843 people got injured. As compared with the same period of last year 104 accidents, 82 deaths and 32 injuries have decreased.

Generally, analysis of traffic accidents occurring on the administrative territory of Baku proves that most traffic accidents have occurred at the dark hours of the day, on Saturdays and Sundays. The accidents have been recorded mostly at Parliament, Heydar Aliyev, Tbilisi, Ziya Bunyadov, Metbuat and Nobel Avenues of Baku. 41% of these accidents are due to high speed, 27% are due to dangerous maneuvering by crossing lane, and 50.6 % are due to hitting pedestrians.

During the reporting period the drunken drivers and the drivers demonstrating disrespect for the society by reckless driving were determined and brought to administrative responsibility. Appropriate legal measures have been taken regarding 16359 drunken drivers, as well as 686 persons committing reckless driving.

State Traffic Police Office of Baku city Main Police Department calls on the drivers to follow traffic rules, and all participants of movement to respect the requirements of the laws.
