On 3 June Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov met with the police officers, the military servants of the Internal Troops and the student of the Sports Society of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) who successfully took part in IV Islamic Solidarity Games and won awards.

Ramil Usubov noted that the nationwide leader of our people, Heydar Aliyev had designated sport as one of the priorities of the state policy and always paid care and attention to the youths of the country and the athletes. The minister said that this policy is successfully continued and developed by the President Ilham Aliyev and as a result of this the Azerbaijani athletes are among the strongest players of the world and our country is known in the world as a sporting nation.

It was mentioned that in general the ten-day Islamiada took place very successfully for country. In these Games, our athletes who won 75 gold, 50 silver and 37 bronze medals with being the first in the team have achieved a great historical victory and brought joy to our people.

The minister R.Usubov emphasized that on the eve of and during this international event a great work has been demonstrated in thanks to the high attention and organizational support of our state, personally of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, Chair person of the Organizing Committee of the “Baku-2017” Islamic Solidarity Games, and the Islamiada made its mark in the history of Azerbaijan as one of great sports holidays, as well as he noted the safe protection of public order and security during the event.
 
Then the relevant order of the Minister of Internal Affairs on awarding of employees who contributed to the championship of our country by gaining totally 9 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals in the composition of the national team of Azerbaijan was declared.

The winners were granted with extraordinary military ranks, certificates of honor, and badges "for distinguished Service in" and "for their Excellent service".

The Sumgait City Police Department employee, Police Sergeant Tural Aliyev who is the silver medalist of the games made a speech on behalf of the winning athletes and expressed his gratitude to the state and the MIA authorities for the conditions created for them and the demonstrated care and attention, and has promised to do their best to keep the glory of our sport at high level and to be always hoisted to the pick of our flag.
Colonel-General Ramil Usubov once again congratulated the athletes, coaches and sports professionals on the occasion of "Baku-2017" IV Islamic Solidarity Games in which they gained a brilliant victory and wished them new, more success. The minister expressed his confidence that the employees will continue to make every effort to guard the sports honor of our country at high level and justify this trust towards them.
